| A note from Leslie Fastenberg, founder and president of Ice-Qube:
I am a long island mom, who several years ago, in a post 9/11 and post katrina world, got serious about getting my own family ready for an emergency.
I found, after buying many emergency kits and researching others, that I had a better idea. I created this product I call Ice- Qubes, inspired by the ICE (In Case of Emergency)
groundswell movement for everyone to add an ICE contact in your phone. I fill them with quality products for rescue and survival, first aid, hygiene and comfort and pack them into cubes.
Ice-Qubes are for "in case of emergency" or "just in case" you need a little help. I made the first ones in my basement three years ago and now we make Ice-Qubes (in a warehouse in bethpage)
for home and office, baby and pet. You can check out the full line on our website at ice-qube.com. We also sell them at select retailers around the country.
Ice-Qubes represent a different approach to the critical requirement to have proper preparedness supplies in our homes, cars other places we frequent. We designed the packages with modern
bold graphics in an effort to help people overcome their anxiety and resistance to doing something in their own best interest. We even considered the special needs of babies and pets in an
emergency. We make it easy for people to buy proper emergency preparedness for themselves and to give them to the people they love. They are thoughtful baby shower, wedding and house warming
gifts. Great for seniors, students and as you know, babies.
I have looked at my business as an exciting opportunity to help people avert disaster, by getting them ready almost involuntarily. Preparedness makes us, our families and our communities
safer.
I have been writing, promoting, marketing, begging people to prepare.
On my website I give away free emergency planners, free reminders to replenish your emergency supplies and I offer free newsletters with tips and incentives on proper emergency preparedness.
I have been on a one woman crusade to rouse my friends, neighbors and countryman to this important issue.
Low and behold, the US Dept of Homeland Security has come up with this amazing campaign next month to promote citizen preparedness by designating all of Sept. as National Preparedness Month.
We are Coalition Members for this important national campaign and we will be doing two events at C.O. Bigelow's, one this wednesday (7/29 12-4) to introduce the Ice-Qube to the press as a great
hostess gift and then in Sept. to promote National Preparedness Month. If you have any interest in stepping up add your powerful voice to this important civic responsibility and would like to
join me in my little but incredibly important effort, I would love to have you stop by. A little preparation will go a long way to making our NY community safer.
